We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Workday Adaptive Configuration and System Administrator contractor to manage and optimize our Workday Adaptive Planning platform. This role is responsible for system configuration, maintenance, integration, and user support, ensuring the platform meets the evolving needs of our financial planning and analysis (FP&A) teams.
 
Key Responsibilities:System Administration & Configuration:
o   Platform Ownership:

  • Act as the primary system administrator for Workday Adaptive Planning, ensuring the platform is configured to support business needs and is operating efficiently.
  • Maintain overall system integrity, including data accuracy, model structure, and user access.

o   User Access and Security Management:

  • Experience with user access, security profiles, roles and privileges and work with defined levels and dimensions
  • Regularly audit user access to ensure compliance with internal controls and security protocols.

o   Model and Structure Configuration:

  • Design, build, and maintain planning models, including dimensions, levels, versions, accounts, and organizational structures.
  • Configure sheets (standard, modeled, and cube), assumptions, and formulas to support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.

o   Data Management and Validation:

  • Oversee data imports and exports, ensuring data integrity and consistency across systems.
  • Develop and maintain validation rules and checks to ensure data quality and accuracy.

o   System Monitoring and Maintenance:

  • Monitor system performance and usage metrics to proactively identify and resolve issues. Perform regular system maintenance tasks, including backups, updates, and patch management.

o   Documentation and Change Control:

  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, changes, and administrative procedures.
  • Follow change management protocols for implementing updates or enhancements to the system.

o   Collaboration and Support:

  • Work closely with finance, IT, and business stakeholders to align system configuration with business requirements.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, resolving issues and answering configuration-related questions.

o   Integration & Automation:

  • Design and maintain integrations with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Workday HCM), HR Systems (e.g, UKG, SuccessFactors, Workday).and other finance and business applications.
  • Automate data imports/exports and reporting processes using scripting or ETL tools and/or integration platform.
  • Integration experience with integration platforms (e.g, MuleSoft, Dell Boomi) and vendor provided connectors to integrate with revenue systems, data warehouses including Snowflake

o   Support & Training:

  • Provide technical support to end-users and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Develop and deliver training materials and sessions for new users.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams using Confluence, Slack and Teams
  • Experience with ticketing and issue tracking applications (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow, Zendesk)
  • Experience with Office Connect and reporting and ability to link to Dashboards and load/link tables and data as needed

Process Improvement:
o   Identify Optimization Opportunities:

  • Collaborate with finance, accounting, and business operations teams to understand current planning and reporting workflows.
  • Analyze existing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, or manual tasks that can be automated or streamlined within Workday Adaptive Planning.

o   Design and Implement Enhancements:

  • Translate business requirements into scalable system configurations and enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain custom sheets, assumptions, and allocation logic to support evolving business needs.
  • Implement version control and scenario planning features to improve forecasting accuracy and agility.

o   Standardization and Document Best Practices:

  • Establish and enforce standardized procedures for data entry, model building, and reporting.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, workflows, and user guides.

o   Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

  • Stay current with Workday Adaptive Planning updates and industry trends to recommend new features or tools.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional initiatives to improve data quality, reporting accuracy, and planning cycle efficiency.

o   Performance Monitoring and Feedback Loops:

  • Monitor system usage and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Gather feedback from end-users and stakeholders to refine processes and enhance user experience.

o   Change Management and Communication:

  • Support change management efforts by clearly communicating process changes and system updates.
  • Provide training and support to ensure smooth adoption of new processes and tools.

System Enhancements:
o   Participate in system upgrades, testing, and deployment of new features.
o   Monitor system performance and recommend enhancements.
 
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with Workday Adaptive Planning (or similar EPM tools).
  • Strong understanding of FP&A processes and financial modeling.
  • Experience with data integration tools and scripting (e.g., SQL, Python).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems like NetSuite or Workday Financials.
  • Understanding of agile project management methodologies and tools
  • Familiarity with software development tools and environments
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

 
Preferred Skills:

  • Workday Adaptive Planning certification.
  • Experience with dashboarding and data visualization tools.
  • Project management experience in system implementation or upgrades.
  • Customer ticketing systems
